The Groundwater Guardian program is
sponsored by the national Groundwater Foundation, a private non-profit
educational organization that informs and motivates people to care about and for water. The program
supports, recognizes, and connects communities protecting groundwater. It is designed
to empower local citizens and communites to take voluntary steps toward protecting their
groundwater resources. Groundwater Guardian is an annually earned designation for
communities which exhibit a participatory approach to protecting groundwater resources.
To achieve Groundwater Guardian designation a community must form a local
Groundwater Guardian Team, prepare and submit an annual entry form, work with community leaders
to develop and implement Result Oriented Activities (ROAs), begin implementation of the ROAs
within the community, and prepare and submit an annual report.
Groundwater Guardians for the Marshfield Area have received the designation as a "Groundwater Guardian
Community" each year since 1997.
Groundwater Guardians for the Marshfield Area continue to meet on a regular basis and plan for current
and future ROAs. One of our many goals is for this organization to continue to work together and gain
Groundwater Guardian designation for our community for many years to come.
