Groundwater Guardians: Why Conserve Water?
In 2005, Wisconsin Governor, Jim Doyle, unveiled Conserve Wisconsin, a broad package of legislation and executive orders that will safeguard Wisconsin’s great environmental legacy. It will focus on protection of our waters and lands and ensure a sustainable energy future. Recent groundwater legislation and the regional Great Lakes Water Quantity Agreement emphasize that, as a state, we need to protect the environment by protecting groundwater and surface water quantity and quality while we continue to ensure the safety of our drinking water supply. Marshfield, along with numerous surrounding communities, have long histories of water quantity issues. We owe it to future generations to conserve what is scarce.
